Would you finally feel confident to make YOU a priority for 2020?
Yoga teacher training is your opportunity to change your relationship with your body and mind so you can live your best possible life. To show up and do your best is all that’s asked of you.
It's an 8-Month Journey That Will Last a Lifetime...
So, What Will You Walk Away With?
This program is a 200hr yoga teacher training. After 1 weekend a month for 8 months, you’ll graduate with a firm grasp of the following fundamentals:
- Asana (poses), pranayama (breathing exercises), meditation and yoga philosophy
- How to live with more ease, truth, love and gratitude
- A personal practice that will usher calm, stability and positivity into your life
- The ability to give and receive loving support in a community committed to personal growth
- The confidence to teach yoga classes regardless of the setting and different ability levels
Please know: Yoga teacher training isn’t just for people who want to become yoga teachers. And you don’t have to have years of experience under your belt. All you need is a desire for self-discovery and growth.
What to Expect from Yoga Teacher Training
Confession: it’s not yoga teacher training so much as it’s yoga studies.
You’ll learn how to take yogic philosophy and apply it to off-the-mat, beyond-the-studio, real-world life. Operating under the mantra of In yoga as in life, you’ll discover how your body practice relates to the way you show up for yourself and others.
That means: Be prepared for devoted study, self-reflection and dynamic group work. You can also expect the following in a Kantra CALM School of Yoga 200hr training:
You’re going to have to take an honest look at the habits and patterns in your life.
Cultivating new behaviors that lead to sustainable, positive change in your life isn’t easy. But with support from a tribe of people who are in this thing with you, it will happen for you.
You’re going to have to dig deep.
Dismantling the egoic barriers that get in your way will be challenging. But, the freedom waiting for you at the other end will usher in a level of ease you never thought possible.
It’s going to be heart expanding.
Connecting with yourself through the rawest, realest experiences — body, mind and spirit — will open your heart. To yourself, your family, your friends… your co-workers? (Yes, your co-workers, too.) You’ll find yourself dropping defenses and authentically accepting yourself and others where they are.
It’s going to be life changing.
Taking the conscious path will ring an awareness bell that can never be unrung. You’ll create a new way for you to exist in this world.
Not to worry — while studying with Kantra CALM School of Yoga you’ll strengthen your technical proficiency and learn anatomy, effective yoga sequences, modifications and alignment cues. When you graduate, you’ll be well prepared to teach yoga if that’s your intention.
And Here Are the Beautiful Parting Gifts You'll Take with You
Deeper Practice & Spirituality
Imagine living a life where unconditional love and compassion divined your next steps. Wouldn’t you feel freer, lighter? Through the program’s mindfulness studies, you’ll gain liberation from the boundaries, conditions and attachments that keep you stuck. You’ll learn how to live your yoga beyond the mat. And, it will feel so good.
Meet your anxiety with breath work. Embrace negative thoughts with self-compassion. Alleviate stress through a meditation practice that calms your nervous system and creates new neural pathways. Yoga gives you a scientifically proven way to restore personal balance.
What if you no longer turned outward for others’ approval? What if you started to feel different… feel fearless… feel strong. You’ll discover that ability, power and confidence have been with you all along. You only need a gentle reminder. Yoga teacher training, and fellow students, are here to whisper in your ear, “You’ve. Got. This.”
Greater Strength & Flexibility
Yoga will help you see your body differently. As you progress, you’ll be amazed by what your body can do and energized by your progress. Don’t be surprised if you find your intention shifting from wanting to improve your body (e.g., lose weight) to loving your newfound strength and range of motion.
Relationships change when you observe your actions and attitudes with fresh eyes. Connections form when you feel into the illusion of separation and the suffering it causes with heightened awareness. You’ll graduate with tools to heal and forge, strengthen and clarify the bonds you’ve formed in your life.
Happiness, grace, strength, peace, compassion, ease, joy, healing… All are yours. A fundamental shift in how you perceive life is more than possible. Yoga teacher training gives you the space to find clarity, the safety to reflect and the direction to make lasting change.
Start Your Journey of Profound Change
Yoga is a practice of allowing, not achieving. You will learn to love what is, stay balanced in the midst of it all, listen to your own inner voice and be the warrior of your heart.
The unfolding will happen. Yoga is the practice that makes sure you are awake for it.
This is your chance to start your journey toward deeper practice and living your purpose.
What’s Holding You Back?
Common Yoga Teacher Training Fears Dispelled
You don’t have enough time.
Kantra CALM School of Yoga training was specifically created to fit your busy lifestyle:
- You meet only one weekend a month for 8 months.
- Coursework is assigned in digestible bites that allow you time and space for your other commitments.
- Your success is paramount. You’ll be surrounded by carefully chosen, like-minded seekers who will faithfully support you every step of the way.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, like you can’t escape the time-pressure crunch, this is your chance to reclaim hours, days, even years, that are rightfully yours.
An old Buddhist proverb says, “Sit in meditation for twenty minutes every day — unless you’re too busy. Then sit for an hour.”
Translation: You’re the keeper of your time. You’ll find time, and if necessary, you’ll make time for that which is important to you
If you feel like you don’t have 20 minutes a day to sit, then yoga teacher training is exactly what you need. Through yoga, you’ll discover how to simplify your life and shift old habits that are stealing your precious time.
But, how do you find or make time when you feel you truly have none to spare? The most effective way to do today what you intend to put off until tomorrow is to do it now.
Think you don’t have time for yoga teacher training? That’s a sure sign you need it now.
“You think you don’t have enough time for an 8-month commitment to do the 200hr training. But as soon as you graduate, you find yourself signing up for 300hrs! Once I made the commitment, I made the time. This investment in myself has created a ripple effect felt throughout my family and the rest of my personal relationships.”
Amy Duffy (48) RYT-200 + 300hr Graduate
You don’t want to teach yoga.
Perfect. You don’t have to. Yoga teacher training is still the right path for you if you’re looking to:
- Release yourself from the grip of situations, events and stories that are running you ragged.
- Disrupt your Groundhog’s Day existence to live each moment with renewed health, energy and curiosity.
- Move forward in the world with true confidence and clarity of direction.
- Live a meaningful, purpose-driven life marked by kindness, compassion and intention.
- Build a strong body, mind and yoga practice.
Kantra CALM School of Yoga focuses on how to joyfully and easefully do this thing called life.
If you’re ready to feel the splash of cold water on your face that washes away frustration and makes you feel alive again, yoga teacher training is the reset you’ve been looking for.
“Kantra CALM School of Yoga offered the most incredible training experience. I had no idea how big the word YOGA is. My life has been transformed forever. No words can describe how amazing my experience was.“
John Milham (44), RYT-500
You’re worried about the cost.
Yoga teacher training is a big investment, so finding the right instructors is crucial to your overall exerpience.
You’ll be spending 200hrs with your training leaders. And in that time, you’ll experience a wide range of emotions that require just the right guidance and expertise to keep you moving forward.
With Kantra CALM School of Yoga:
You’re getting 2 psychotherapists as your lead teachers.
David and Augusta Kantra are licensed therapists with over 50 years of combined clinical experience. Creating new habits, living from the heart and igniting transformation — these are dynamics in which they are deeply schooled and highly skilled. And while the program is not “therapy,” it is firmly rooted in the teachings of psychology, neuroscience and yogic philosophy.
You’re learning from instructors who’ve studied under world-renowned mindfulness teachers.
Both Dr. David and Augusta Kantra have completed their E-RTY-500 certifications and continue to study directly under distinguished mindfulness leaders like Jack Kornfield, Tara Brach and Philip Moffit. The Kantras are incredibly grateful to be able to pass the torch of knowledge on to their own students.
Your lead teachers will be there to support you every single time you meet.
The Kantras attend every training, for the duration of the weekend. This isn’t the norm for most yoga programs; often, instructors pass over trainings to their assistants. But, your teachers are committed to physically being there to help you. Think of them as extended family who invest their whole hearts into your success during the course.
“Initially, I was worried about the price… I wasn’t sure what I was getting for my investment. Fast forward: I’ve now completed 3 trainings with them since 2013, (twice the 200hr and the advanced 500 hr). I am a firm believer in the transformative powers of this practice, particularly having Augusta and David Kantra as my teachers. I have never felt so fulfilled and capable of doing anything in my life and that is a direct result of what I’ve learned from the Kantras and their superb, hands on, and caring approach of skillful teachings.”
Angel Curtin (53), E-RYT-500 + YACEP
You’re afraid it’ll be too hard.
Yoga trainings are a mixed scene. Some people have practiced yoga for years. Others are new to it…
Yet, almost by magic, no one is bored, no one is left behind. Everyone excels.
But, it’s not magic. It’s intention:
- Students are carefully chosen.
- Coursework is deliberately curated.
- You’ll be met wherever you are – physically, mentally and spiritually.
Kantra CALM School of Yoga was created with the deepest intention to make every single training safe and successful for its students.
You’ll never be expected to power yoga your way through the training. And, you’ll never be asked to do anything that doesn’t serve your personal growth.
“200hr yoga teacher training scared the sh*t out of me, but that’s a large part of why I did it. I was interested in yoga, but I wasn’t a yogi by any stretch of the imagination. Thankfully, David and Augusta, along with Stacy, create an atmosphere to set you up for success and growth.”
Julie Wirtes (45), RYT 200 + 300hr Graduate
You’re not sure — you’re just… scared.
You don’t know what to expect…
How are you supposed to emotionally open up around strangers? Will you be able to stick with it until the end? What if you can’t do the daily practice?
There are a bajillion excuses your mind will use to get in the way of making a decision.
But, what if the only thing standing between you and a deeper spiritual relationship with yourself, your yoga and your life is 8 weekends?
And, what if the only thing keeping you from living the life you’ve always wanted was your commitment to being vulnerable, compassionate and open?
Would you take the chance?
If you feel called to say yes, feel into that energy – that electricity — and move forward. This is your moment. Your chance to finally make those changes you’ve been aching for, for so long.
“Fears are dispelled during the first night of teacher training, actually, in the first few hours. Augusta and David facilitate a space so you connect with each other very quickly. Almost like magic, you immediately fall in love with the strangers sitting next to you.”
Donna Fucich (54), RYT-500

This 200-hr training is a mentally, physically and emotionally challenging process designed to enable serious students of life/yoga (mind, body, and spirit) to become inspired teachers and students. Each participant will strengthen and deepen her/his practice.
As a trainee in this program, you will practice asana, meditation, and pranayama (breath awareness) to the point of proficiency and beyond. Your knowledge of yoga theory will deepen to the point that it becomes a core aspect of the fabric of your life.
This course is a very powerful transformational journey. It is intimate work that will bond you deeply with other participants on your course. Group size will be limited. The students and leaders will become your extended family during the course and possibly well beyond.
This course will teach you about how yoga works on and off the mat. You will learn ways of looking at life that open you to new ways of seeing, and you will come into a kinder relationship with your body, mind and spirit — the union that is Yoga.
In addition to the self-discovery that is inherent in this training, you will also become a better student of yoga and of life. You will deepen your practice. If you really want to learn something deeply, learn to teach it! In this training, you will learn how to teach classes that combine a consistent therapeutic vision with the inspired spontaneity that is the hallmark of CALM Yoga. You will develop a thorough understanding of the elements of the therapeutic principles of yoga and be able to design a class or teach a pose in such a manner that your students will immediately embody those principles.

What is included in the price?
One of the things that is extraordinary about this training is that there are 2 lead teachers and an assistant teacher for the entire training. Both Augusta and David Kantra are E-RYT500 (which means they both are trained at the 500hr level and have more than 2,000hrs each of teaching time). That just simply means they’ve invested a lot of time and resources into their yoga training, and have put in a lot of time on the mat. 🙂 Stacy Reckeweg is RYT500. She completed both her 200hr and 300hr training with Kantra CALM School of Yoga, and has served as an invaluable Assistant Teacher for the past 3 years.
Because everyone comes into their teacher training with different backgrounds, experiences, and comfort levels, it is very important that the teachers have done due diligence both in their own training and in their own practice. These three Kantra CALM School of Yoga teachers have certainly done that!
David, Augusta and Stacy are present for the training weekends where each training weekend builds on the last. They do not do a module type training because they feel strongly about the elements of continuity and connection being both teaching tools and learning experiences that are important to this program. Everyone goes through this training journey together and shares their experiences in that amazing process.
Another component of our trainings is that, as psychologists, the Kantras put a strong emphasis on personal growth and living into your yoga. In the asana portions of the training, we teach proper alignment, safe and effective sequencing, the benefits of each pose and how to teach an inspired class. You will come away with a deep understanding of the “whys and hows” of the poses as they pertain to skillful choices in yoga and in life. Alignment principles (mind/body/spiritual) are the basis for everything we do and teach.
This is an opportunity to spend a stretch of time immersed in self-discovery and growth. People come out of training feeling better equipped to live more purposefully and fully.
“If somebody offers you an amazing opportunity but you are not sure you can do it, say yes – then learn how to do it later.”
~Sir Richard Branson

This is a 200-hr Certification process. We are held to all of the rules of the Yoga Alliance as a Registered Yoga School (RYS). All of the sessions and assignments are to that purpose and are therefore required in order to successfully graduate from this program. What we are asking of you is that you are seriously committed to this process and that you do your very best. Over and above that, we ask that you apply yourself to this process in the way you would want your students to apply themselves when under your tutelage.
In life, things beyond our control come up. If there is an emergency or prior approval for an unavoidable absence, a student may be able to arrange with the teachers a way to make up time and assignments.
Refund/Non-Refund Policy: Deposits are non-refundable once you are accepted into the School. Cancellations must be made 60 days before the start of the Teacher Training. We can not offer any refunds for cancellations within 60 days of the event.
If you do not complete the program for any reason other than cancellation of the program by Kantra CALM School of Yoga, you will not be entitled to any refund, and will be obligated to pay any remainder of the enrollment fee designated above.
You do not have to have extensive experience with yoga to do this training. We all start from where we are. Whether or not you aspire to ever “teach” yoga, rest assured that what you learn will influence how you live, talk and behave.
This training is not just about teaching yoga, it’s about LIVING your yoga. This training will enhance, enrich and change your life – thus the lives of the people in your life! You will be encouraged to stretch beyond your self-imposed limits and reach into the potential that IS you.
If you have physical limitations, you CAN still do this training! We do request that you be able to stay with the asana sessions in their entirety even if some/much of that time is in child’s pose or seated. Often, it is when we come up against our own limitations (frustrations, fears, etc.) that we learn best how to help someone with theirs. You will not be practicing while you teach, so physical limitations will not interfere with that.
WHICH BOOKS AM I REQUIRED TO READ?
(Additional texts may be required.)
- The Yoga-Sutra of Patañjali: A New Translation with Commentar, Chip Hartranft
- How Yoga Works, Geshe Michael Roach & Christie McNally
- The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success, Deepak Chopra
- Meditations from the Mat: Daily Reflections on the Path of Yoga, Rolf Gates
- The Yamas and the Niyamas: Exploring Yoga’s Ethical Practice, Deborah Adele
- Yoga Anatomy 2nd Edition, Leslie Kaminoff and Amy Matthews (note that this is the 2nd edition)
We recommend that you begin reading How Yoga Works by Geshe Michael Roach & Christie McNally. This is a remarkable story that is best understood by reading it through in its entirety, and then reading it again as we go through it in training.

After taking my very first yoga class in 1983 on a beautiful beach in Ocho Rios, Jamaica, I was hooked. My life has had many twists and turns since then, including raising my three amazing children. Teacher training has always been a desire and a goal of mine, but the timing and my circumstances have delayed my opportunity to do it… until now. I am forever grateful that David and Augusta allowed me to join the Herd of 2017.Click to Read More

What a journey this has been. When I started Kantra CALM Yoga Teacher Training I was 70-years-old, helping to care for my aging mother, raising my 6-year-old grandson, needed a knee replacement, and money was an object. Yet, I jumped right in. I had every excuse not to do it, but I did it! It has truly been life changing. I am stronger, physically and emotionally. I feel empowered.
Thank You David & Augusta,

- A supportive yoga community.
- A deeper understanding of yoga philosophy taught by well-educated teachers. David has a stoic sense of humor that is hilarious. Augusta is just a loving ray of sunshine.
I would tell anyone interested that you will not regret signing up for Kantra Yoga Teacher Training but you may regret not signing up for Yoga Teacher Training.
Being a part of the Herd has meant many important things to me. The first that comes to mind is unconditional acceptance and love. We were all in the same “boat,” no matter our status in life, age, or gender. I appreciate so much the honesty and empathy and support I have received from every single one of you! We became an inspiration to each other and shared our pain, our sorrows, our mistakes, and our love, spirituality and joy.Click to Read More
We learned together the Four Noble Truths, The Eight Limbs of Yoga and the Eightfold Path. We laughed together, sweated together, hurt together and cried together. We inspired each other to do better, try harder, and love more. We taught each other that we are not that different, while at the same time, accepting our differences. We shared loving kindness. We loved each other. We learned so much from our wonderful teachers and mentors! They gave us so much, and I will always remember with a huge amount of gratitude the Herd of 2017! Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for bringing your best to the experience every single time we met! I love you all tremendously!
Yoga has meant the world to me. Learning that my actions, thoughts, prayers and well wishes do matter, has positively impacted me and those who I come in contact with each day. Kantr CALM Yoga Teacher Training has equipped me and fueled the flame to give it away — give it all away as a teacher in an organized class, or give it all away as I pass others along the path — the path of life.Click to Read More
I would recommend yoga teacher training to anyone who is ready to embark on self-discovery and giving it away. Teacher training creates a connection to grow and nurture while learning the limbs of yoga in a supportive environment. The entire program is set up to foster success and growth. I would do it all over again and again – definitely a life-defining event.

I came in as Lotus under the mud, full of anger, ego, hatred, sadness, no balance, uncertain on everything in life but Heck!! If it hit the bottom only way it can go is up!! And my life, my perspective, my heart, my mind are awakened by this training. Now I can change for the better and it’s not about me, my or mine anymore. All I wanna do is ask, “What can I do for the better of the entire universe?”Click to Read More

I came into this class looking to learn more about the spiritual side of yoga and I needed a positive change in my life. Learning from David and Augusta has helped me realize that my problems aren’t my weakness, they are my strengths. My struggles have become stories to share in hopes that it can help others know that they aren’t alone in this world. I am thankful for the opportunity to have connected deeply with 20 people from all walks of life.Click to Read More
I learned their likes, their dislikes, and some of their deepest pains. We learned together, we laughed together, we cried together, we walked together, we taught together, and we taught each other. David and Augusta gave me purpose in my life. They created a safe place for me to wander during my journey of self-discovery. They gave me direction and a strong sense of belonging.
The Kantra Calm School of Yoga 200hr yoga teacher training is an incredible experience. Not only did I learn to safely and skillfully teach poses in a yoga class, I learned the yoga principles and philosophy that are helping me become an even better version of myself. Augusta and David are masterful at creating a cohesive and loving classroom community from a diverse group of “peeps.” Whether you plan to teach yoga classes or not, this training is a jewel you do not want to miss. The training requires effort and discipline, but is that not true of every worthwhile thing?

This Training has opened my eyes to a new world and I feel that I have emerged into a new way of being. I hope to continue on the path, learning and growing throughout my life. I look forward to sharing with others, and with some luck, they will also find “Peace in the light that shines between us.” David – You are inspirational, light-filled, rainbow warlocks!
This has been the most wonderful experience. I had no idea what I was signing up for. I did not realize that yoga is not just about the poses, but much, much, more. I love the expression “In Yoga as in Life.” Take a lesson from the mat: strength, flexibility, courage, gratitude, compassion, peace, and the list goes on. Meeting all these wonderful people. Thank you for opening your hearts to us. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.
This training Has Meant more to me than I ever believed it could. I’ve watched many before me, walk this path and seen their growth, but now I know what that means and how it feels. I love myself and accept myself more than I thought I ever would, and I am honored and humbled to share this journey with so many beautifully intricate souls. I bow to my herd. I bow to my teachers and I even bow to myself. With a grateful heart and a humble soul, I see myself. I see love. I am love. I give love. I receive love. I know love. This training has allowed me the courage to become an asset to the world. This training has saved my life. This training has meant everything. That’s all. That’s everything. This training is for anyone and everyone who is willing to grow. It is for anyone who wishes to be more, see more, feel more, know more, care more, give more, receive more, and love more. It is for the seekers of truth. This training is for everyone. Everyone moving forward and everyone looking back, whether your goal is to move into stillness or move into action. It is for anyone who is willing to move, even if you don’t know how to move, where to move or when to move. This training WILL move you! It will move you to wherever you are meant to be moved.
